The Entreprenurial Stage: In the beginning

As we previously discussed, the organizational lifecycle is a series of stages that your business will move during its lifetime. The goals and objectives are subject to change based on the supply and demand of your company.

In the beginning, the organization enters the entrepreneurial stage. It is like the egg stage in the butterfly metamorphosis. Businesses are trying to grow as well as survive. As an owner, you are developing an identity and obtaining resources. For example, when I started King HR Services, I met with a branding manager to create my logo and decide colors that I would associate with my brand.

Although money may be tight in the entrepreneurial stage, effective human resource management is vital for survival. If you cannot afford a full time dedicated human resource staff, consider contracting an HR consultant. The HR consultant can come in and handle the administrative work, create a handbook and build processes and procedures. This will give the business a strong foundation and good chance of survival.

According to Theresa Welbourne and Alice O Andrews, companies with good human resource plans have a 92 percent chance of survival.

Enjoy the learning experience in the entrepreneurial stage, but always have a developed plan for survival so you can move to the COMMUNAL STAGE.
